VOCABULARY LEARNING

Never study a single, individual word. Never.

When you find a new word, always write down The Phrase it is in. Always.

When you review, always review all of the phrase,.. not the word.

Collect phrases.

Have you got a vocabulary notebook? How do you arrange the words – alphabetical order? By topic? Do you use pictures? Do you know what a word map is?

How do you learn new words? Look at these words -
colleague
flat
overtime
wear
fit
rent
salary
suit
journey
suburbs
wool
boarding pass
retire
delay
housework
gate

Words are easier to remember if they are together in they are put together in groups. Here the groups could be -

JOBS AND WORK  - Colleague, overtime, salary, retire
HOUSE AND HOME - flat,  rent, suburbs,  housework,
TRAVEL - journey,  boarding pass, delay, gate
CLOTHES - wool, suit,  fit, wear

You can present these words in a list or in visual form, like this -
or simply in a list.

Let me know what words you learn!
